Aoos River flows into the Politses plateau where the homonymous artificial lake is located, near Metsovo. Its total length is about 270 km. of which the first 80 km are in Greece. The river crosses Vovousa village and several villages on the foothills of Smolikas. It creates the beautiful Gorge of Aoos and then crosses under the stone bridge of Konitsa before enters in Albania. Due to the significant importance of the natural landscape, the areas where the Aoos passes have been designated as a national park.
The most famous places, you can visit, at Aoos river are Vovousa village, Aoos bridge in Palaioselli village, Konitsa stone bridge and Aoos gorge that starts from Konitsa stone bridge and ends at Stomio Monastery.
