The Valia Calda National Park is located at Pindos and is also know as National Park of Pindos. Valia Calda stands for “Warm Valley” according to a local dialect of Vlachs. The organization was formed at 1966 and it is one of the most important and most virgin national forests of Greece.
It’s a famous place for hiking and 4×4 tours. The park lies on the borders of Grevena and Ioannina regional unit, north of the town of Metsovo and near the villages of Vovousa, Perivoli and Milea. There are no settlements or any facilities inside the protected area’s borders and it stretches to 68.990 acres. In this area of Valia Calda are included Arkoudorema stream, Flegga alpine lakes plus the mountain of Ligkos and Mavrovouni. The main entrance of Valia Calda is located 13 kilometers from Metsovo.
