Konitsa

Konitsa (or Konita in Vlach) is a town in the Prefecture of Ioannina and the seat of the Municipality of Konitsa in Epirus, 64 kilometers north of Ioannina and close to the Albanian border. It lies amphitheatrically on the slope of Mount Trapezitsa, of the Pindos mountain range, overlooking the plain of Konitsa, where the Aoos River meets the Voidomatis River and Sarantaporos.
Konitsa is a regional center for many small villages of Pindos and has a market, schools, and a health center. It is a good starting point for tourists who wish to explore the mountains of Pindos or who want to do mountain activities.
